The arts centre Vrijstaat O. is based in Ostend, in a pavilion forming part of the Royal Galleries, the covered walkways that were commissioned at the start of the 20th century by King Leopold II.

We want this space to be an artistic meeting point with a low threshold, an open house for culture with regular stage performances as a point of departure. Our regular programme includes music (jazz and contemporary), literature and debate, and a children’s programme (Kinderstaat O.).
